CES 2017 Connects Global Markets To Emerging Future Technology

CES 2017 celebrates its 50th-anniversary in Las Vegas with electronics from global markets such as automotive, fitness, sports, healthcare, & entertainment. The world’s largest event gathering to showcase the most advanced electronics concluded a couple days ago. Groundbreaking technology includes the unveiling of 5G and products for AR, VR, Health Care, AI, Sports, and Robotics. The show shattered records with more than 175,000 professionals, and 55,000 of them visiting outside of the US. Over 3,800 exhibitors filled up close to 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space to drive the ever-evolving technology industry.

Keynotes & Headline Speakers

Friday morning opened the show floor to keynote speaker, Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf. He introduced the future of 5G and spoke about a new network with advanced scalability, complexity, and speed. “5G will be the tipping point that builds on LTE and finally enables IoT”, said Mollenkopf.

Later that afternoon, Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank took the stage to unveil their stance towards health and fitness technology. In fact, UA is true to word and has invested $1 billion towards these industries . As a matter of fact, decorated Olympian, Michael Phelps hopped on stage with Plank to demo the company’s new models of their Record Equipped shoes. Of course, these shoes were designed to provide performance feedback from workouts.

Conferences

The 2nd day of CES 2017 highlighted SuperSessions and conference tracks focused on tech trends and policy issues. The Self-Driving Cars was the main topic and top executives from Intel, Blackberry, and Mobileye spoke on the approach. Subjects introduced automakers, hardware, and software developers who are driving the accelerated pace of self-driving solutions. The discussion concluded, stating to reach the goal of self-driving cars on the road by 2020; a collaborative effort to solving the convergence of IoT and AI are critical.

Sports Technology

Several big names in the sports industry including Don Garber, Commissioner, Major League Soccer, Gary Bettman, Commissioner NHL, Brian France, Chairman and CEO, Nascar, Scott Blackmun, CEO, U.S. Olympic Committee, Alejandro Agag, CEO, Formula E, and Dan Gilbert, Majority Owner, Cleveland Cavaliers took part in The Sports Business Innovation track, presented by Turner Sports. A range of jam-packed sessions diving into the future of sports and technology initiated the discussion to a broad spectrum of opportunities. Topics such as increasing the fan experience, data analytics and how it affects personnel management and player performance, and virtual/augmented reality in the arena lead the discussion.

CES is the worlds most valuable tech trade show, yet it offers so much more. The world’s renowned innovators, companies, technologies, products, and entrepreneurs all gathered in one place is an integral piece to the global progression in innovation.
