Take a timeout to collaborate with colleagues in a huddle space designed to influence ideas.

The AV trend seems to be progressing with solutions for huddle rooms or huddle spaces. Why is this? To correctly answer this question we first need to find out what a huddle room or a huddle space is. The word ‘huddle’ derives from sports terminology, mainly the National Football League. During a game, a huddle is an activity a team will do to strategize and motivate each team member towards a goal while gathered in a circle. In today’s work environment, a huddle room or space is a place team members or colleagues congregate and connect to collaborate and share ideas. Employees nowadays own laptops, touchpads, and mobile devices to share their work making huddle rooms a place for media.

With that in mind, we’d like to introduce an innovative new product from Atlona Technologies. The Atlona AT-HD-SC-500 is a scaler with three inputs for HDMI and VGA signals. Features include two HDMI inputs and a VGA input with 3.5mm audio connector. The design of this unit is to take video signals from switchers, laptops or PC’s and scale them to an HDMI output accommodating a broad range of HDTV and PC resolutions. Built for friendly operation, the AT-HD-SC-500 has an auto-switching feature for active input selection when AV sources are connected or if there is a change in source power status. Input selection is easy to control from the front panel, RS-232, or TCP/IP commands. Set-up is performed using Atlona’s webGUI or OSD. Set-up choices include changeable preferred input resolutions, output resolution, plus control of brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, and sharpness. The AT-HD-SC-500 is ideal for applications where multiple signals with different resolutions have to be optimized for a display.

Compact scaling switcher

The AT-HD-SC-500 combines a scaler with multiple inputs and auto-switching capabilities for use in a small system with HDMI and VGA sources, and audio features including analog de-embedding, volume control, and equalization.

Complete System Applications

The three-input scaler accommodates one or two HDMI sources plus a VGA source for classrooms, huddle rooms, and small conference rooms. The front panel control buttons can be used for control of inputs or show me functions. The compact form factor enables under-surface mounting at a desk, table, or lectern. Audio de-embedding on the scaler provides professional, balanced connections to a small amplifier and speakers for better audio.

Large System Applications

The scaler can also be great for integrating an input device on a switcher that doesn’t have a VGA input. The unit also works well as an output scaler for the AT-UHD-CLSO-824 matrix switcher.
