FireWire cables were designed and developed to work with many products, especially devices that work with a lot of data including camcorders, cameras, DVD players, PC's and some digital audio equipment. Using FireWire Cables allow the user to send data at a high-bandwidth to and from digital devices. A great example is a digital camcorder connected to a PC, in which the PC is auto detect the camcorder when connected via FireWire cable. FireWire cables are designed to be hot-pluggable; what this means is that it can be connected or disconnected at any time and even while the power is on. Other features include high-bandwidth transfer rate and power through cable. A FireWire Cable is very similar to a USB, but intended to work with devices that carry much more date like camcorders, digital audio equipment, computers and DVD players to name a few.
