Component Video Cables
Component cables are easily mistaken for composite cables because of the connector and color schemes for video and audio. Although they are both analog type cables, the main differences are component AV cables have 3 connectors for video (red, blue and green to better picture quality) and left and right audio connectors bring the total to 5. On the other hand, composite AV cables have 3 connections which are for video, left and right audio. Older TV's have 3 AV inputs for composite; however present day HDTV's have 5 inputs which means you'll need the component cable.
